No dia 28 de outubro embarquei para uma das maiores aventuras da minha vida: passar 40 dias na China isolada numa ilha para treinar para o mundial de longboard, o Swatch Girls Pro. Digo aventura, pois mesmo sendo a minha 5a vez na China, ainda é um país com uma cultura completamente diferente e onde poucas pessoas falam inglês...
Ficamos num hotel em frente a praia mas super simples. No nosso primeiro dia, paramos no supermercado no caminho do aeroporto para o hotel e compramos comida para alguns dias. Só que, ao chegar em Riyuewan Bay, vimos que realmente não tinha NADA, absolutamente nada por lá, só nosso hotel e um surf club com um restaurante chinês. Ah, e um pico de esquerdas perfeitas com água quente.

Passamos sufoco lá mas, agora, quando lembro, me vem à cabeça só histórias engraçadas, como da vez que fui pedir ajuda na recepção do hotel para abrir uma lata de atum e o atendente tentou abrir com a unha, na ponta da mesa e até com o dente (não tem abridor de lata lá). Ou das nossas idas ao supermercado mais próximo de nós (1h de distância), onde todos ficavam olhando pra mim e pra minha mãe e virávamos atração no vilarejo. E não podia esquecer dos dias em que nosso jantar era um pacote de batata Pringles (a batata e o biscoito Oreo foram as únicas coisas "comestíveis" que a gente achou no mercado).
Quando eu ia treinar, minha mãe ficava na areia me filmando e com as minhas outras pranchas. Volta e meia quando eu olhava pra ela pra ver se estava tudo certo, eu a via cercada de chineses, que ficavam parados e abismados com a nossa presença lá - tipo, quem são essas ETs? Daonde elas vieram?
Mas mesmo com todas as diferenças, são um povo muito acolhedor, querem te agradar o tempo todo e se certificar que tudo está bem com você, são uns fofos!
On october 28th I went to one of the biggest adventures in my life: spend 40 days in China, isolated in an island to practice for the world longboard championship, the Swatch Girls Pro. I call it adventure, because even this being my fifth time in China, it's still a country with such a different culture and the communication is not that easy…
We stayed in a hotel right in front the beach but super simple. On our first day, we stop by in a supermarket on our way to the hotel from the airport to get food for some days. But when we got at Riyue Bay we realise that there were pretty much nothing around there, only the hotel and the surf club with a chinese restaurant. Oh, and a perfect left-hander point break with warm water.
We had a hard time there but after all when I think about this trip, only fun stories comes in my mind. Like when I went to the hotel lobby asking for somebody to open a tuna can and the guy tried to open it with his nail, on the table edge and even with his teeth - BELIEVE ME - and then I realised there is NO can opener in China. Or about the days we went to the nearest supermarket (about one hour from us), where everybody would keep staring at me and my mom, making us the big attraction on the village. And I could not forget about the days we had Pringles for dinner (pringles and oreo were the only known things for us at the supermarket).
When I was surfing, my mom would stay at the beach with my other boards filming me. Sometimes I'd look at her to see if everything was ok, and then I'd see her surrounded by chinese people, who were stunned about our presence - like, "who are this ETs? where do they come from?"
But even with all the differences, the chinese are a very welcoming people, they want to please you every time and make sure everything is ok with you. cute!
